Ohio woman who disappeared after planning on going to a gas station is found dead in a vacant house, ‘former friend’ is in custody

  • By Friday, she was reported missing after never returning from her excursion
  • Her body was found by a search dog on Sunday evening

An Ohio woman missing for two days has been found dead in a vacant home and a former friend of hers has been charged in the death.

Brianna Ratliff, 20, was last seen around 7pm on Thursday in Hall Park, a neighborhood of Coshocton, Ohio.

She said she was going to the Pit Stop gas station.

By Friday afternoon, however, Ratliff was considered a missing person by the local sheriff’s office.

Around 7:16pm on Sunday, a search party reported a body matching Ratliff’s description in a vacant house and her identity was later confirmed.

The Coshocton Tribune reports that Ratliff was found by a search dog from Golden Hearts A Voice 4 the Voiceless, a non-profit victim advocacy group.

Blake Grewell, 19, was taken into custody on Monday, according to a news release sent to DailyMail.com by the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office describes Grewell as a ‘former friend’ of Ratliff.

Grewell has been charged with aggravated murder, with more charges anticipated against him.   

According to 10TV, the Bureau of Criminal Investigations was also assisting with the case.

On Monday, the vacant house in the 1800 block of Chestnut Street was sealed off with caution tape, including the front yard and a wooded area out back.

A vigil for Ratliff was planned in Hall Park on Tuesday evening, according to the Coshocton Tribune.

Additionally, a GoFundMe page is raising money Ratliff’s funeral expenses.

‘She was a beautiful person, inside and out and will be deeply missed by so many people,’ the organizer of the fundraiser wrote.

So far, the fundraiser has accumulated $3,565 in donations, with a goal $15,000.
