Her body was found around 2.20pm on Friday by a dive team with the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department using sonar in water just 12 feet deep just steps from where she was last seen, the agency said in a press release.

Lyons’ body has since been identified by the New Hampshire Medical Examiner, the New Hampshire State Police said in a statement.

‘The New Hampshire State Police would like to thank the public for providing information leading to her discovery and to our partners in public safety who assisted in several coordinated searches,’ the statement reads.

The day Lyons went missing she told her friend Kristin Haralabatos that she was going to visit her boyfriend in Ossipee and would pick up her dog, a German shepherd, to go for a walk, WBZ reported.

‘She was going to pick up her dog, Flossy,’ Haralabatos said.

‘And then when she was leaving, she told the guy that she was going to Google woods or paths around there.’

She added: ‘Through my heart, I am just praying that she is OK, but this is very, very unlike her.’

Lyons was later seen walking Flossy along the shore of Ossipee Lake as the ice deteriorated on the warm day, outlets reported.

‘She was doing exactly what we believed she was doing, walking along the edge of this pressure ridge, and she then went through the ice at some point or on the edge maybe of where the Bear River comes into Lake Ossipee,’ Fish and Game Capt. Michael Eastman told WMUR.

‘I would say that’s probably where she went into the water.’

Family members have since flown in from Ireland – where Lyons was originally from Ireland, WMUR reported.

‘It’s a sad situation. Our heart goes out to the family. They certainly traveled a long distance to get here for this. It’s sad,’ Eastman said.
