A 25-year-old man has been stabbed to death at home following armed police surrounding a house in South Shields and cordon off street amid a large-scale emergency.
Six men have been arrested and remain in custody after a large portion of a steet in the South Tyneside coastal town was cordoned off yesterday.
Northumbria Police, who is supporting the 25-year-old’s family after they were informed of the sad death, said he was taken to hospital but died a few hours later from his injuries.
Around seven armed officers pointed guns towards a terraced property in Marshall Wallis Road at 6pm yesterday and forensics were also at the scene.

A person who lives on nearby Alice Road said: ‘I’ve lived here for 30 years and never seen anything like this.’
Another resident reported seeing emergency services vehicles from both Northumbria Police and the North East Ambulance Service in the street in the early hours of Saturday morning.
They said: ‘At about 1.45am last night I saw flashing lights in the window. I went to see what was happening and I saw an ambulance, a police van and two or three police cars.’

A neighbour added: ‘My husband went out to get a paper. When he came back he said the area had been cordoned off by police.
‘Obviously these things happen but you don’t expect it on your doorstep.’
One local said: ‘It’s a really scary thing when there are armed police on the street.
‘I left my door unlocked last night by accident. It really makes you worry about your safety.’
Others living nearby said they saw armed officers and police dog units.
