An elite armed police officer from the Met’s diplomatic protection unit accused of 29 sex attacks on eight women over 11 years today denied a plethora of new charges including six rapes.
PC David Carrick, 47, who has been suspended by Scotland Yard, appeared at Woolwich Crown Court this afternoon.
The officer, who served with the Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection Command, is currently charged with a total of 29 offences against eight women between 2009 and 2020.
These include 13 rapes including one of a woman he met on a Tinder date and other charges such as keeping an alleged victim prisoner in a cupboard under the stairs and urinating on three women against their will.
Wearing a dark suit, pale blue shirt, tie and black face mask, Carrick spoke to confirm his name before denying nine new charges, taking the total of not guilty pleas from 20 to 29.
The latest nine charges relate to four women and include six counts of rape, one count of attempted rape, one count of assault by penetration and one count of controlling and coercive behaviour between 2009 and 2018.
Today Carrick spoke only to confirm his name and to reply ‘not guilty’ to the court clerk when each of the nine charges were read out. He was flanked by three dock officers in black uniform after being bought in from maximum security Belmarsh jail.
