Mike Tindall missed his podcast The Good, The Bad and The Rugby today following the death of his wife’s grandfather Prince Philip.
The former England rugby pro, 42, who is married to The Duke of Edinburgh’s granddaughter, Zara Tindall, usually hosts the sports podcast with James Haskell and Alex Payne.
But he was absent from today’s episode, with French rugby union player Benjamin Kayser stepping in, to replace him and James Haskell who was ‘recharging his batteries’.

‘No Tins for obvious reasons,’ co-host Alex said, referring to the the father-of-three’s nickname.
‘Obviously there are lots of people saying far more eloquent things and suitable things than we ever could.
‘But as he always knows lots of love and hugs from us and hopefully from those you who listen and enjoy the show, a very sad time for a great man.
‘More on that to come from far more important sources in due course,’ he added.

He has previously used the podcast to break royal news, including the birth of the couple’s third child last month.
Her Majesty’s granddaughter, 39, gave birth to their son Lucas Philip Tindall, weighing 8lbs 4oz, at 6pm on 21st March on the bathroom floor of their family home on Princess Anne’s Gloucestershire estate.
Like her cousin Princess Eugenine, Zara paid tribute to her beloved grandfather by naming her newborn son, Lucas Philip Tindall, in his honour.
Proud father Mike who shares daughters Mia, seven, and Lena, two, with his wife, shared the news on his podcast – and hailed Zara a ‘warrior’. He later revealed he took the little one straight downstairs to watch sport on TV, after snipping the cord and enjoying skin-on-skin contact.
Speaking about the birth, Mike told how Zara had experienced contractions the night before, so they organised childcare for Mia and Lena – but the little boy arrived so fast they didn’t have time to make it to hospital.
Mike recalled: ‘Fortunately Zara’s friend Dolly [Maude] is, she’s actually more important than I am at making sure she’s been at all three of my children’s births, she was there and recognised that we wouldn’t have got to the hospital in time, so it was run into the gym, get a mat, get into the bathroom, towels down, brace brace brace!
‘Fortunately the midwife that was going to meet us at the hospital wasn’t that far away so she drove up, got there just as we’d assumed the position, and then the second midwife arrived just after the head had arrived!’

Asked how Zara was doing, he replied: ‘As every man will say, she was a warrior, as always. They always are. We can never judge a woman in terms of what they have to go through with childbirth so… no, she was back up, we went for a walk this morning with him, and yeah all good.’
Mike told how the birth was very different to their previous children; he said: ‘It’s been a slow journey, so first one was in Gloucester Royal, done the right way, we was induced as well that one, and then second one was in Stroud in a local birth clinic, and this one we didn’t even make it there.

It comes as the Queen stoically returned to royal duties yesterday, four days after the death of her husband.
The monarch, 94, hosted a retirement ceremony for the former Lord Chamberlain Earl Peel on Tuesday.
As touching tributes flooded in from across the nation for the duke, including flowers left at residences such as Windsor and Buckingham Palace, the family announced a two-week period of royal mourning.
But, in a move that typifies the Queen’s deep sense of duty, she returned early to bid farewell to Earl Peel – a key royal aide who is retiring after 14 years of service.
Earl Peel was the Lord Chamberlain, which is the most senior officer role in the royal household. He had been overseeing arrangements for the duke’s funeral – known as Operation Forth Bridge.
Prince Andrew, The Duke of York, recently said his mother is bearing up stoically and the family have been rallying round to support her.
And Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge, has pledged to uphold his grandfather’s wishes and continue to support the Queen and ‘get on with the job’.
