Footy legend Greg Inglis has shared his heartache about feeling ‘helpless’ while his family suffer amid the devastating floods in northern New South Wales.
The former South Sydney star has had many ‘sleepless’ nights worrying about his loved ones in northern parts of the state, who many have already had to flee their homes.
He said many friends and family had been doing it tough in areas like Nambucca and Macksville and the worst-affected towns of Ballina, Lismore and Grafton.
‘I think that’s the hardest part, you see what is going on and you want to do something but you can’t. You feel helpless,’ he told The Daily Telegraph.

Inglis has constantly been checking the rain radar and anxiously awaiting updates from his loved ones, many of whom are trying to secure sandbags for their homes.
Kempsey, his home town, is just one of many areas ravaged by the deluge.
‘It’s devastating, hearing that people have lost their lives. You can’t help but feel for their families,’ Inglis said.
‘You can’t help but feel for the families that have lost homes and possessions. You can replace the homes but not the memories.’
The death toll from the floods in northern NSW has risen to three after a man’s body was found in the Lismore CBD on Wednesday.

It comes after the body of a woman aged in her 80s was found inside her South Lismore home on Tuesday afternoon, hours after another woman’s body was found in her home nearby.
One of the victims has been identified as much-loved Lismore country singer Marge Graham, 82, who was found in her South Lismore home on Tuesday.
There are fears the bodies of more trapped residents will be found on Wednesday as the massive clean up effort continues.
The deluge has now made its way down to Sydney with residents told to ‘prepare for the worst’.
A major flood warning was issued on Wednesday afternoon for the Hawkesbury and Nepean rivers in the city’s west and north-west, where residents are already on high alert for deadly floods.
Meanwhile, the first evacuations have begun in the city’s south-west with parts of Milperra, Chipping Norton and Lansvale ordered to leave immediately amid as the Georges River rises.
