A teenage girl has been rushed to hospital after being bitten by a snake on a suburban street in the Northern Territory.
The 16-year-old suffered the bite at around 11pm on Friday night in Karama, Darwin’s north.
She was quickly rushed to Royal Darwin Hospital in a stable condition but the type of snake that bit her is not yet known.

The reptiles have been more frequently seen in Karama in recent months and last June a 25-year-old man was bitten in the northern Darwin suburb.
Residents in areas that are prone to snakes have been urged to learn about the steps they must take in the event of a bite.
Victims should immediately immobilise the area and call emergency services.
The bite should also be bandaged and not cleaned so paramedics can take a venom sample if needed.
