Eagled-eyed viewers have spotted a glaring detail in a news photo that has summed up Brisbane’s snap lockdown.

Hundreds of residents fled the city after Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk announced a three day lockdown for the Greater Brisbane and surrounding areas in a desperate battle to stop a growing coronavirus outbreak from spreading further.

The announcement sparked chaotic scenes by hundreds caught off-guard as panic- buying shoppers flocked to the supermarket while others were in a frantic dash to escape the city and ensure their Easter long weekend holiday plans weren’t ruined.

One photo of the long queue of gridlocked traffic heading out of Brisbane has sent social media into meltdown.

The photo shows the Pacific Highway at Logan choked with traffic heading towards the Gold Coast.

Keen viewers zoomed in closer and spotted a four-wheel driver towing a camper van pictured at the front of the queue offering a rude one-fingered salute through the front windscreen.

The glaring detail has gone viral online and sparked a divisive reaction on social media platform Reddit.

‘One does not ever truly need a reason to leave Brisbane, one viewer quipped.

Others pointed out there are similar scenes in the afternoon peak hour every day.

‘Keep in mind some of them are Gold Coast residents who commute daily to Brisbane for work. The rest want their Easter Weekend in case the lockdown is extended. Poor form,’ one person commented.

Another added: ‘There might be some people wanting to skip the lockdown, but I don’t think it is as many as people think.’

Queensland recorded eight more locally-acquired cases on Tuesday, taking the number from the two clusters to 15,  sparking speculation the lockdown may be extended and expanded statewide.

Six of the latest cases are genomically linked to or close contacts of seven existing cases, while the other two under investigation.

‘Now of course we want to get on top of this community transmission,’ Premier Palaszczuk told reporters.

‘So the steps that we took to go into this lockdown, as you can see by those numbers of community transmission today, were absolutely the right call.’

There are now more than 60 potential virus exposure sites across Greater Brisbane, the Gold Coast and central Queensland.

About 2.5 million people in Greater Brisbane were ordered into a snap three-day lockdown on Monday afternoon.

Hundreds more across Queensland and interstate who have visited Brisbane in recent weeks have also been ordered to self-isolate.
