Hunt for vicious prowler who attacked PREGNANT woman in alley: CCTV shows thug throw pillow case over victim’s head and repeatedly punch her in belly – as fears grow over rise in random assaults on lone females

Horrific footage shows a thug throwing a pillow case over a pregnant Jewish woman’s head before repeatedly punching her in the stomach – amid growing fears of random assaults on lone women. 

CCTV footage taken in Stamford Hill last Thursday shows a man following a 27-weeks pregnant woman into an alleyway.

As she nears the camera, the suspect, who is carrying trolley, pulls a hood over her head before raining down blows on her stomach.

Police say enquiries are ongoing to establish whether the attack was racially motivated.

Police in Hackney are now appealing for witnesses following the attack, which happened on Manor Road at around 6.30pm.

Shomrim, a neighbourhood watch group predominantly made up of members of the Jewish community, shared footage of the horrific attack.

The group said the victim of the attack was Jewish.

Last night it also shared a video showing the suspect running from the scene.

It said: ‘Pregnant woman & her unborn baby survive a horrendous attack after a male suspect attacked her from behind, placed a pillow over her head & punched her in her stomach several times in a vicious unprovoked attack. 

‘CCTV shows the alleged suspect fleeing the scene in Stamford Hill. 

‘Appeal to identify an extremely dangerous fugitive who is still on the loose after CCTV captures a male viciously attacking a young pregnant woman in #StamfordHill in an unprovoked attack.

‘#Shomrim volunteers have increased patrols after a recent spike in assaults on lone females.’

A Met Police spokesman said: ‘Detectives are investigating after a woman was assaulted in a Hackney street.

‘Police were called shortly after 7pm on Thursday, 18 March regarding an assault that had occurred approximately 30 minutes earlier on Manor Road in Stamford Hill.

‘The victim, a 20-year-old woman, informed officers that she had been approached from behind by the suspect, who put a cloth or pillow case over her head before assaulting her.

‘The woman was taken to hospital for treatment to minor injuries.

‘Officers are carrying out a number of enquiries and are reviewing CCTV cameras in the local area.

‘There have been no arrests and enquiries continue.

‘Anyone with information is asked to call police via 101 quoting reference Cad 6517/18Mar.’
